Ipswich Motorway Upgrade Low Altitude Survey

The Ipswich Motorway Upgrade Project is part of the state government's South East Queensland infrastructure upgrade program. The road corridor was approximately 7.2km long with an average width of 50m.

Project details

• The Department of Transport & Main Roads approached Vekta for an aerial solution to provide high-accuracy spatial survey information along the road corridor.
• Innovative technology was used for the project in the form of photogrammetry from low level aerial photography obtained from a helicopter-mounted aerial camera, GPS technology using virtual reference stations and digital leveling.
• Nine runs for approximately 100 frames of photography were captured at 1:800 photo scale.
• Photogrammetry was performed on digital softcopy workstations using latest Leica software.
