Earthworks Volumes

Mining and resource companies often require measurement of the volumes of their product stockpiles for quality control and stock audit purposes. In some instances ground survey methods are not practical or safety risks are unacceptable, which is why Vekta offers an accurate and efficient alternative with photogrammetric volumetric calculations. This process produces time and cost savings to the client with no safety concerns.

Vekta uses a combination of commercially available and proprietary software to calculate volumes of stockpiles. Our specialists are skilled in stockpile and base interpretation and we use a variety of methods to obtain the most accurate results.

Clients are provided a Volumes Report containing information including time and date of photography, volume results matched with type of material, and comments regarding the accuracy of calculations (such as if a stockpile is obscured by machinery or shadows).

In addition to volume pit and stockpile calculations and reports, we also regularly provide orthophotos and topographic maps of sites. Modern topographic maps are produced by using the DTM data to generate contours, which are then cartographically enhanced with nomenclature, grid and title block data.
