Low Altitude (Helicopter) Surveys & Mapping
In addition to standard flying programs, Vekta offers a unique solution to the issue of low altitude surveys and mapping. By mounting our cameras in helicopters, we are able to fly at lower altitude and slower speeds than traditional fixed-wing aircraft.
Low altitude surveys provide an alternative to ground surveying for projects that require high levels of accuracy, such as roadway improvement projects. In areas of heavy traffic it can be difficult to keep ground surveyors safe and this often requires closing lanes and other major traffic disruptions. Helicopter aerial surveys obtain the same accuracies whilst saving clients time and money by eliminating the costs associated with traffic management and road safety regulations.
The average scale of Vekta helicopter-based photography ranges from 1:600 to 1:1000, which is 3x lower than traditional aerial photography. This enables Vekta to achieve 10mm to 20mm precision in x-y-z and is comparable to results obtained by conventional ground survey methods. Our accuracies have been field tested and found to be reliable.
